So it’s time for Co-operative food supermarket to make their stamp on the Christmas sandwich world with their ‘Turkey Feast’ sandwich. Coming in at £3 on it’s own it is one of the more expensive sandwiches on the market but for an extra 50p you can convert that into a meal deal, which makes it a lot better value. Also for their Christmas sandwiches sold this year they are raising money for ‘Mind’ charity, promising to donate £50,000 from the sandwich sales, so you can eat your lunch and think I’ve also made a small difference in the world! So hooray for the co-op in leading the way with fundraising.

First impressions are good, packaging is nice and the window reveals a pretty deep filled sandwich which we know is important. Pull the bread apart and it’s clear there’s some good content here, nice big chunks of turkey breast and a good amount of bacon and cooked stuffing. One thing that did concern me from the off was the seemingly lack of sauce … a fear we all have I’m sure!

So how did it taste? Well it tasted good quality, especially the turkey – I know co-op have some good farming practices and to be honest the turkey did taste nice, the same with the bacon also. Unfortunately as I eluded to earlier there was a distinct lack of moisture in the sandwich which made it a bit claggy and although the individual tastes of the ingredients were pleasant there was nothing bringing the flavours together. The cranberry sauce was very much lacking and unfortunately whilst a tasty sandwich it failed to deliver that festive punchy sweet taste you would expect. Shame as I feel everything else was right.

So what score did it get?

Value – 7/10 (expensive but an extra point given for the charity donation)

Content – 9/10

Christmas Feel & Taste – 6/10

Overall Taste – 7/10

GRAND TOTAL – 7.25/10

So that’s our score, but more importantly how would you rate it? Get involved, taste it and then rate it and let the leaders board competition begin.
