Giant Cream Tea Scone Tower

Introducing the leaning tower of scones ... maybe jam and cream between multiple layers is not so great for vertical stability?

Well unfortunately we didn’t have old queenie coming for tea but we could have fed a royal family tea party with this regal beast. Consisting of 8 thick scone layers filled with 3 litres of freshly whipped cream and 9 jars of strawberry jam sandwiched between each layer this was not weight watchers friendly!

This was a fun one to make and actually relatively easy (see instructions below), basically consisting of 4 massive scones cut in half and then fillings in-between the layers. Was made for a community bake off event but sadly didn’t win, although did feed over 120 people.

There was no debate over which way the jam and cream goes, we went for the Cornish way to give the full accolade to the cream being on the top. Although in hind site next time we will compile the layers onsite and not before we go on a 15 minute car journey! Boy there was a lot of jam and cream over my friend and the car.

Measuring in at 30cm diameter and 45cm tall this was definitely the biggest scone we’ve ever seen.

It wasn’t quick to make but it was all Scone fast (sorry couldn’t resist!).

But it’s not about what we think … how would you rate it in the GIANT snack hall of fame?
