So another day, another sandwich – here comes the Tesco offering of ‘Turkey and Trimmings’. Again like other supermarkets available as part of a meal deal, £2.75 on its own but for an extra 25p for £3 you can make it a meal deal – hey it would be rude not too! So an innocent smoothie and a duo snickers bar (to share of course!!) concludes the line-up.
First impressions of packaging is that it’s not very Christmassy, quite basic unfortunately but the plastic window to tasty times shows a meaty filled sandwich so I can’t say I stared at the packaging for long – my wife would agree, always telling me to slow down eating!
So delving into the sandwich my stomach is feeling very content, lots of filling! The most filling I’ve had so far in the Christmas sandwich reviews, so content wise a big tick. So what’s in this deep filled sandwich? Turkey, sausage, bacon, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Whilst it’s a great amount of filling (see pics), deep and too the edges unfortunately the ratios are a bit wrong. Felt like it was more of a turkey and sausage sandwich, I’d probably label it a boxing day sandwich – the kind of doorstep sandwich you make from the Christmas dinner leftovers.
So how did it taste? Well as I eluded to earlier the ratios were a bit off with the ingredients and that affected the taste. Unfortunately the cranberry sauce & stuffing were almost none existent so didn’t add much taste. Taste wise it was probably more like a roast dinner sandwich rather than a Christmas sandwich. Don’t get me wrong it was a filling and nice sandwich but unfortunately didn’t fit the brief of Christmas feel and the lack of sauce / stuffing meant nothing really pulled the ingredients together.
So what score did it get?
Value – 9/10
Content – 9/10
Christmas Feel & Taste – 5/10
Overall Taste – 6/10
AVERAGE TOTAL – 7.25/10
Nothing special with the score, fairly average unfortunately. If you want a filling lunch then this is the deal for you, if you want something Christmassy then maybe go elsewhere.
So that’s our score, but more importantly how would you rate it? Get involved, taste it and then rate it and let the leaders board competition begin.
